living room starting point

This is the inspiration for our living room redo. Here’s what I love about it –

  • divine, patterned curtains hung simply, with colors that tie the room together. The pattern keeps the room from being too boring or stuffy.
  • the natural/textural elements brought in by the shades and area rug
  • the mix of wood tones with black furniture pieces
  • the fact that it gives off a beachy/nautical vibe without looking too theme-y
  • that the pattern on the round table base and the two lamps is very similar
  • the neutral couches with pops of color found in the pillows
  • an accent chair done in the boldest color of the room
  • the nail head detail on the chair and the casters on the sofas which gives this cozy room a little bit of polish
  • the candle sconces on the wall which will give off a soft light and don’t require any wiring/electrical work to be done!
  • the convex porthole style mirror that again gives off a coastal vibe without being over the top

We’re going to try to recreate this look, with a slightly different color scheme in our rectangular (19’x13′) living room. The only difference is that I need to also add the functionality of a den/tv space and working/office space to the mix.
